"We're very pleased to have listed our stock on the New York Stock Exchange. This is an important step in our evolution as one of the leading coal producers in Central and Northern Appalachia," ICG chairman Wilbur Ross said.
The group previously traded on the Pink Sheets under the symbol "ICGC", closing at $US12.02 on Friday.
The company said it had now completed the acquisitions of Anker Coal Group and CoalQuest Development LLC and had resumed its corporate name International Coal Group, Inc.
ICG has 11 mining complexes based in Northern and Central Appalachia and the Illinois Basin.
