Coal giants Arch Coal and Kennecott Energy have implemented smoke-free policies at some of their mines in an effort to promote employee health.
Both companies have implemented smoke-free policies at their indoor facilities as well as in haul trucks, Campbell County Tobacco Prevention Program’s Debbie Reid told Associated Press.
Arch’s Black Thunder mine in Wyoming is also offering free, on-site counselling to encourage employees to quit.
Arch had previously implemented a similar policy at three of its West Virginia mines.
