Based in Newcastle, New South Wales, DSI Mining is an international company that has become one of the state’s most successful exporters, recently winning the “Best Regional Exporter” award at the 2005 Australian Export Awards. The company exports strata control products to New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Indonesia and Turkey.
DSI’s research and development department has pioneered the development of a range of new mining products including a new DCP (Double Corrosion Bolt), turtle and star plates, posimix bolts, friction bolts, rock bolts, resin anchors and cable bolts.
General manager Derek Hird says these innovations offer the most durable and cost-effective solutions available.
He said DSI Mining works closely with mining companies and has a presence at every major Australian mining centre.
“DSI Mining offers training packages together with its mining products and systems, for example at Ashton Coal in the Hunter Valley, we’ve provided geo-technical training packages because it’s a new workforce and a brand new mine,” Hird said.
“Other major projects include the Parramatta Rail Link, which is a new rail tunnel between Sydney’s Epping and Chatswood suburbs. The tunnel will be 28km long when completed in 2008.”
DSI mining will be showcasing a range of its products and services at QME 2006 at stand 1113.
DSI Mining is a division of international civil construction company Dywidag Systems International. It was established in 2000 after Dywidag Systems International decided to base its mining operations in Australia and acquired ANI Strata Products, a company with more than 35 years experience in the mining and fabricating industries.
