Broadmeadow No. 1 earned second place, with Crinum third, Broadmeadow No. 2 fourth, Cook mine fifth and Capcoal in sixth place.
Competition organiser Lindsay Creighton told International Longwall News the first four teams will now compete against North Goonyella, Moranbah North, Oaky No. 1 and Kestrel at the EK Healy Cup on September 8.
Creighton said this year a stand-alone compressed air breathing apparatus exercise and a team skills task were included, as well as first aid, firefighting, an equipment practical exercise and theory examination.
Broadmeadow No. 2 took out first place in the team skills exercise.
The 37th EK Healy Cup will be held at Anglo Coal's Grasstree mine in Singleton, where the top four teams will advance to the nationals.
The national competition will also be held in Singleton during October.
