During May this year surface mining equipment manufacturer Bucyrus International completed the acquisition of underground coal mining equipment designer and manufacturer DBT GmbH for $US731 million.

Bucyrus said the single entity will operate under the motto: "One company. One name."

The marketing is designed to integrate the brand identity and clearly present the combined companies to the international marketplace. The uniform branding is also a reflection of the synergy generated by the merger of the two companies.

The combined companies under the Bucyrus name have a workforce of nearly 6000 employees who are targeted to achieve annual sales of nearly $US2 billion in 2007.

"In a period of strong market demand, the combined Bucyrus will continue to strengthen its position as a driving force in the design and manufacture of surface and underground mining equipment for the global mining industry," the company said.

Bucyrus is headquartered in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA.
