Changes to the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999 and the Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act 1999 were passed by the Queensland Government in October.

Named the Mining and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2007, the changes come into effect from December 14, including the necessity to report all deaths at minesites, not just those resulting from accidents.
