The 2008 conference features the theme "Future focus: developing tomorrow's workforce today" and will address the workforce challenges currently facing the industry.
Participants will take part in open forums and solution-based workshops as well as hearing addresses from keynote speakers.
“This year we have focused on providing attendees with opportunities to discuss relevant issues, network and learn from the top professionals in the industry," MISC chief executive Derek Hunter said.
To close the conference, the MISC Training Awards will be announced. The awards recognise and reward exceptional achievements of individuals, organisations, trainers and trainees who have made an outstanding contribution to training and skill development in the resources sector.
Hunter said this year MISC had taken steps to develop the categories of the awards to reflect the way training has evolved over time.
“This year we have added new award categories, with a greater emphasis on training, employee development and skilling initiatives across the whole of the resources industry," he said.
Nominations for the 2008 Training Awards are open to all sectors of the resources industry across Australia.
