These chambers meet state and federal regulations to provide 96 hours of breathable air.
“In late 2007, NIOSH performed survivability evaluations on all refuge chambers originally approved by the state of West Virginia,” Strata Safety Products president Rory Paton-Ash said of industry testing, which included the criteria of carbon dioxide scrubbing, oxygen supply, apparent temperature and duration of operation.
“Strata Safety’s chambers successfully passed all evaluations and met all requirements.”
Strata said it expects all orders currently on its schedule to be delivered by the end of 2008.
In the meantime, he told that the company is always receiving requests for price quotes and their orders are coming in from round the world.
“We are very pleased that our chambers passed all NIOSH evaluations and that we can move forward in delivering the units and implement training,” he said.
