A groundbreaking ceremony was held on February 18, attended by Joy and CMM representatives as well as more than 100 government representatives.

Once completed, the new facility will enable the company to double its shearer production. Plans are also in place over the next two years to introduce more products and new designs.

Construction on the factory in Wuxi City is expected to be completed by August this year. At 105,000 square metres (1.13 million square feet), the project will be built in two phases – the first encompasses a 17,000sq.m (183,000sq.ft) area.

CMM acquired Wuxi Shengda last December.
