EDMS subsidiary GOS Drilling will conduct exploration drilling for Xstrata’s Rolleston operation and Peabody’s Burton mine.
In its outlook, EDMS expects to further expand business with its existing coal customers.
Another five rigs are expected to be added to its 34-rig fleet in the next two months.
Three new rigs are to cater to the coal seam methane sector while EDMS is noticing demand recovery for base metals exploration.
“Underground opportunities continue to build and strong demand is being seen from the base metals sector in Cobar and Mt Isa,” the company said.
EDMS expects further business opportunities to arise from the major mining houses rationalising the number of service providers they use.
Last month GOS Drilling won the stage 2 and 3 drilling contracts for China Shenhua Energy’s Watermark project in the Gunnedah Basin, New South Wales.
EDMS shares are up half a cent to 16c this morning.
