ESTIMATED US coal production totalled approximately 15.2 million short tons in the week to December 24, 2016, according to figures released by Energy Information Administration.

US year-to-date coal production totaled 726.3Mt, 18% lower than the comparable year-to-date coal production in 2015.

This production estimate is 3.1% lower than the previous week's estimate and 27.7% higher than the production estimate in the comparable week in 2015.

 

East of the Mississippi River coal production totalled 5.8Mt and west of the Mississippi River coal production totaled 9.4Mt.
