GEOLOGICAL evaluation requirements for iron ore exploration approvals are to be abolished by the Western Australian government, a move anticipated to save the industry up to $2 million a year.

The WA government has trimmed some of its red tape.

The industry has welcomed the move but says there is much more to be done.

WA Mines Minister Bill Marmion said the move had been recognised in the inaugural 2015 Red Tape Reduction Report Card.
