CONTRACTOR Macmahon Holdings is making good progress with a $350 million contract to supply open cut mining services to QCoal’s Byerwen coal mine in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, according to Macmahon CEO Michael Finnegan.
Once operational the Byerwen mine will produce up to 10 million tonnes of hard coking coal per year.
Coal from Byerwen will be railed to Abbot Point Coal Terminal for export.

The increased production from the Byerwen mine was a testament to its favourable economics.
