A SUBSTANTIAL boost in average head grade has led to a production uplift at the Nullagine gold project over the last two weeks, with Millennium Minerals producing, on average, about 400 ounces per day as the new Bartons underground and higher grade open pit ore comes on stream.

The Nullagine gold project

Nullagine is in Western Australia's east Pilbara region.

Production at Nullagine is running at a rate of 100,000 ounces per annum at the moment, which means Millennium has achieved its production target ahead of schedule, with the target originally set for the fourth quarter.

The daily production rate of 400oz/day included a record daily rate, recorded on August 30, of 540oz/day.

Millennium had been expecting to achieve the annualised run-rate of 100,000ozpa in the December quarter, however, the higher average head grade at Bartons underground and the higher grade open pit ore pushed the date closer.

The strong production performance was also due to an increased mining rate and materially improved mill throughput at Nullagine.
