A diverse South-East Asian conglomerate currently seeks to appoint a General Manager - Operations for their emerging mining business.

This newly created role will be responsible for the development and management of a greenfields project in Laos.

Reporting to Group MD, this newly created permanent appointment will be responsible for:

  • operational readiness including workforce planning and recruitment of department managers and senior technical staff.
  • overseeing effective development and implementation of health & safety policies & procedures.
  • ensure the preparation & implementation of SOPs for each department.
  • maintain an effective risk identification and management system.
  • stakeholder management, including forming and maintaining strong relationships with the local community.
  • the design and implementation of ESG standards.
  • the successful delivery of production targets.

This newly created permanent opportunity is offered on an expat FIFO from anywhere in South-East Asia on a negotiable roster or residential in-country. An attractive remuneration package is provided comprising of after-tax salary circa US$380K, expat benefits and lucrative incentives.

As the ideal candidate, you will be an experienced GM/VP (Operations) with a successful background in the leadership of large opencut hardrock or coal operations. You will have effective communication skills, cultural sensitivity and sound commercial acumen. Previous international and project development experience will be advantageous, but not essential.
