WESTERN Australia-based technology company Seertech Solutions has the solution for all your learning, assessment and compliance needs.
Delivering mission critical learning and compliance management systems to customers around the world, Seertech's core Learning Management System has established the homegrown company as a leading niche global provider.
With the mining industry in Australia a huge part of the global economy, it is essential companies stay up to date with training and compliance to keep their workers safe.
In such a compliance-heavy industry, non-compliance can be costly and extremely damaging for businesses, causing legal and financial issues, and posing serious safety risks.
Mining and petroleum companies are the focus of the imminent passing of the WA Government Work Health and Safety Bill 2019 which brings this subject sharply into focus.
Learning is more than just engaging employees and boosting productivity, it is directly linked to improvements in safety and quality, streamlined operations and increased revenue.
Learning has a direct and measurable impact on business results and allows companies to remain competitive.
Managing technical competencies, operational assessments and recurrent certifications is complex; a one-size-fits-all system is not going to get the job done and not all LMSs can handle the required level of complexity.
Given the dirty and dusty nature of most mines the learning management systems need to be robust, flexible, easy to use and also be accessible anywhere and anytime from multiple devices.
Once installed, Seertech's local development and support ensures the LMS is always evolving to meet the needs of mining today as well as tomorrow.
Flexible and open enough to align precisely to any business, industry compliance and e-commerce requirements, the LMS is loaded with modern learning and professional development features that are delivered through an intuitive and responsive learning experience.
The Seertech LMS has features that are specifically suited to the mining industry including:
- operational assessment/training matrix;
- equipment access automation;
- position hierarchy management;
- mobile operational assessment while offline;
- mobile course delivery while offline;
- contractor management;
- document management; and
- Registered Training Organisation (RTO) certification.
The award-winning learning platform streamlines the entire learning, assessment and compliance process.
Customers say the Seertech LMS has a direct revenue impact and lowers their overheads through the resulting workforce and operational optimisations.
They can also use the Seertech LMS to help win more contracts and/or sell more training externally.
Since starting life as a cloud-learning platform pioneer in 2003, Seertech has grown to service more than two million people in over 190 countries, with an astonishing 97% customer retention rate.
Seertech founder and CEO Paul Hardwick grew up in country WA in Bencubbin, a small town straddling the border of wheat and station country.
Paul's mining experience was gathered in Kalgoorlie and Perth before working all over the world for 15 years building and designing Oracle-based applications.
Leveraging his now broad IT expertise and fulfilling a life-long goal to start his own business, he founded Seertech in 2003.
The business soon signed up ANZ Bank in Australia as its first client.
Although Paul did have a background in mining, he said it was not until they started working with integrated services company Downer that they pioneered the mining aspects of the system.
"We thought we understood what miners wanted, until we started working with Downer."
One innovation Seertech has been working on with Downer is an offline operational assessment app.
Paul said they used to take a clipboard full of PDFs down to the mine site to carry out formal assessments and fill in the forms before handing them to office staff when they return to the donga.
The office staff then had to enter the data into the system.
To improve time to competence and reduce error rates, Seertech built a tablet app that digitalises the PDFs and makes them editable.
Once the app gets an internet connection, the PDFs and the operational assessment status is automatically uploaded to the system.
True innovation is not just driven by the technology but the operational aspirations of the customer.
As Seertech CEO, Paul has led the company to become a premier provider of tailored LMS solutions.
He is passionate about helping Seertech's customers and providing an ecosystem of innovation for his staff and believes Seertech is a market leader because it focuses purely on learning and compliance and the needs of its customers, not on shareholder returns.
However, Paul said that outside of their very loyal and fairly extensive and high-profile customer base, no one really knows what it is they do or can offer.
"There's a well-worn assumption in mining that there is no real system to what the sector actually needs," he told Australia's Mining Monthly.
"Sometimes mining companies come up with a series of quick fixes in order to meet their needs."
Paul said in the past few years they have been perfecting the system with existing customers but are now ready to show off their success to the whole industry.
"We want to raise awareness of what is now possible," he said.
Whether big or small, simple or complex, if you have a mission critical learning need, Seertech can help.
