Wirtgen has opened its new Australian distribution and training centre in Perth.

Located in South Guildford, the facility distributes machines from Wirtgen’s five leading brands for mineral and roading customers comprising Wirtgen, Vogele, Hamm, Kleemann and Benninghoven

These brands provide more than 250 products and 12,000 different options to suit various applications and field requirements.

At the facility’s official opening, Wirtgen displayed a number of popular pieces of equipment, including Kleemann’s dependable crusher line and the large scale Wirtgen 4200 SM surface mining machine.

Wirtgen staff also entertained attendees with a choreographed live demonstration, featuring a host of Wirtgen Group machines from across the roading and mineral technology ranges.

“Wirtgen’s ability to bring machine technology to customers in this way is quite unique,” Wirtgen Australia CEO Paul Hockridge said.

“For customers to be able to see firsthand in one setting the capabilities of the latest compaction technology from Hamm, the accuracy and ability of the Vogele paver range, or Kleemann’s comprehensive crusher options is a rewarding opportunity.”

The Wirtgen 4200 SM surface mining machine was on display at the Perth facility opening.

The flagship facility stretches across 47,000 square metres of land, of which 12,000sq.m is undercover.

The site features a service facility for rebuild, overhaul and repair work; modern cleaning and painting facilities; and a warehouse comprising $35 million worth of parts that is open for service all year round.

“This new facility underlines the commitment we have to our customers in Australia and New Zealand,” Wirtgen Group managing partner Stefan Wirtgen said.

“We can now offer customers in Australasia, Europe, India, South America, China and South East Asia the same standard of service excellence, as well as a complete range of solutions through our product lines, from mining to mixing, paving and recycling.”

The building will also serve as Wirtgen’s Australasian Centre for Training and Technology (CTT) – the first to open in Australasia.

The CTT will specialise in product training for customers, machine operator training, application training and internal service technician training.

“Our service personnel are partners and conduits for Wirtgen customers and offer technical know-how and commitment to ensure the best out of any piece of machinery, wherever it might be located,” Hockridge said.

“With support from additional sales and service centres throughout Australia, the new CTT in Perth will help provide for unbeatable geographical coverage across the region, ensuring the Wirtgen philosophy – ‘close to our customers’ – rings true.”

The opening of the South Guildford facility heralds a year of branch expansion for Wirtgen Australia, with satellite sales and service centres also scheduled to open in Melbourne and Auckland later in the year.
