DMIRS issues warning after spate of powerline hits

A SPATE of incidents involving mobile equipment making contact with power lines on mine sites has led Western Australia’s Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety to remind miners to follow proper powerline access procedures when driving near overhead powerlines and powerline corridors.

According to DMIRS from 2009 to 2018 there were 26 cases of contact with overhead powerlines and seven incidents in 2018 alone.
