Weipa powers up

A SOLAR farm and battery storage facility to be installed at Rio Tinto’s bauxite operations at Weipa is expected to reduce diesel consumption by about 7 million litres per year and decrease annual carbon dioxide emissions at the Far North Queensland mine by 20,000 tonnes – the equivalent to taking 3750 cars off the road.
