VR training a step-change for Alcoa

ALCOA Australia is putting employees at its Pinjarra alumina refinery through a virtual replica of the refinery’s sub-station as part of a guided training module that simulates how to safely and correctly isolate electrical switches to avoid arc flash incidents.

Normally only used to train defence personnel, Alcoa will use virtual reality technology to train workers how to perform high-risk tasks safely.
