BHP ends Wescone service relationship

BHP has told Wescone Distribution that it no longer requires its crusher repair services for the BHP-owned fleet of Wescone W300 sample crushers ending a 25-year association.

The mining giant has opted to go with an alternative engineering services business to service its sample crusher fleet and use non-original equipment manufacturer parts for repair and service.

The news is a blow to Wescone and its owner Volt Power Group, which is just about to start trials on improved wear parts for the W300-3 sample crusher.

Wescone sold six W300-3 sample crushers to BHP this year as part of ongoing negotiations.

Part of those negotiations included a proposal to adopt a rental supply business model to reduce the capital cost impact of the purchase.

According to Wescone, BHP confirmed its desire to buy the new crushers and advance good faith negotiations to conclude an ongoing related service contract.
