Ecobiological has about 30 scientists, ecologists and planners specialising in environmental assessment, remediation and aboriginal cultural heritage.

Besides its Hunter Valley headquarters the firm also has an office in Mackay, Queensland.

The firm’s expertise is used by miners, state and local governments and commercial developers.

Kleinfelder opened its first office in Melbourne in 2010 and has grown its business significantly, particularly in the energy market.

Chief executive officer Bill Sigel said there was increased demand for environmental services in Australia and Ecobiological was a perfect fit to help meet that demand.

Ecobiological Group founder Adam Blundell called the deal a win-win for both companies and their clients.
