Mechanical Engineering Safety Seminar

THE NSW Department of Mineral Resources will be holding its 13th Mechanical Engineering Safety Seminar on May 21, 2003

To cover a host of safety related issues the seminar will focus on competency and engineering standards related to mining.

Speakers include:

Rob Regan, Assistant Director Safety Operations, Department of Mineral Resources

Wally Koppe (Chairman), Inspector of Mechanical Engineering, DMR

Prof. Jim Joy, Minerals Industry Safety and Health Centre, University of Queensland will talk on “Risk, Competency & Engineering Standards.”

Rod Morrison & Chris Ellicott, DMR will outline “Change in the Legislative Environment - A DMR Perspective.”

Bob Gibbons, Coal Services, Peter Sunol, DMR, Bob Paton, M.E. & R.S. ITAB to outline “Industry Competencies - Engineering Perspective.”

Wally Koppe, DMR, David Carbury, University of Newcastle will talk on “Diesel Particulates - What’s Required.”

Keynote Address on Change Management by Margot Cairnes, B.Ed (Hons) MBA.

Underground Engineering Practices will be discussed by Greg Venticinque, DBT Diesel.
