Mine managers exams in Queensland

THE Queensland Department of Natural Resources and Mines will hold written examinations in mining law for certificates of competency for mine managers in December.

Exams will be held throughout Queensland on December 2, 2002 and will be conducted by the Boards of Examiners for Statutory Certificates of Competency for Mining Safety and Health Management.

The legislation to be examined covers the Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act 1999, and Regulation 2001, and the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999, and Regulation 2001.

Examinations will be held for:

- First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency (Underground Metalliferous Mines)

- First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency (Underground Coal Mines)

- Second Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency (Underground Coal Mines).

The NRM said applicants for these statutory certificates should contact Bruce Lovely, Secretary, Boards of Examiners, for further information by October 21.
