Gas explosion simulated at Grosvenor emergency exercise

A SIMULATED level 1 mine emergency exercise at Anglo American’s Grosvenor coal mine in Queensland has aimed to simulate a gas explosion at the longwall caused by the shearer cutting into the tailgate which in turn lead to a coal dust explosion which destroyed several ventilation control devices.
