Members of the Wangan & Jagalingou Traditional Owners Council protesting against Adani's proposed Carmichael mine.

Council spokesman Adrian Burragubba said the Queensland government had to take responsibility for any destruction occurring on W&J country.

"We are very concerned about the impacts on our cultural heritage and ancient story places from Adani's land clearing and other industrial disturbance," he said.

"It is a grave matter for us that their works could do permanent damage to our sacred Doongmabulla springs.

"We have been concerned about activity by Adani contractors on our country over some months now. We will be making our own investigations into what Adani have been doing there and will hold both the company and the government to account."
