AGL takes Liddell down the bioenergy route

AGL is progressing plans to turn the Liddell coal-fired power station in New South Wales’ Hunter Valley into a bioenergy project, despite efforts by former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull to get the company to extend the life of the power station beyond 2022 to plug an expected shortfall in the national grid.

The energy utility has joined Bioenergy Australia, following its participation in the Liddell Innovation Day, a project designed to catalyse innovation, investment and industry in the repurposing of
