Canavan says IEA report paints a rosy picture for Aussie met coal

FEDERAL Minister for Resources Matt Canavan has welcomed the International Energy Agency’s World Energy Outlook, saying it has a positive outlook for Australia’s metallurgical coal sector despite predicting demand for thermal coal will wane over the next 20 years.

Canavan said Australia's proximity to Asian markets meant the coal was well placed to meet growing demand.
