NSW IPC to consider United-Wambo application

AN APPLICATION by the United Wambo Joint Venture, which proposes to expand and integrate open cut mining operations at the United and Wambo mines to allow for the extraction of an additional 150 million tonnes of run-of-mine coal over a 32 year period, is about to considered again by the New South Wales Independent Planning Commission.

The joint venture is made up of United Collieries, which is a majority-owned subsidiary of Glencore Coal and Wambo Coal, a majority-owned subsidiary of Peabody Energy Australia.
