A WORKER carrying out maintenance activities at the maingate of a longwall has suffered a broken leg after a serious incident at a New South Wales underground coal mine.

The worker was using the shearer haulage to pull a flight bar when the lashing link on the shearer failed, hitting the worker on the lower part of the leg, the NSW Resources Regulator said.
