Macdonald and Maitland to be retried over Doyles Creek corruption charge

FORMER New South Wales Resources Minister Ian Macdonald and factional ally and union representative John Maitland have had their convictions over alleged corruption in the granting of the Doyles Creek exploration licence quashed in the NSW Court of Appeal.

A new trial is being ordered for both men.
 
Macdonald's lawyers argued the trial judge misdirected the jury in relation to the elements of common law offence of misconduct in public office.
