Illawarra leads NSW coal mine employment surge

THE number of coal miners in New South Wales has increased by 1,000 over the last year to 22,300 in FY2019, according to data from Coal Services.

 Illawarra had almost 500 more coal miners in the region than at the same time in 2018.
