A LONGWALL mine operator suffered a cut to the back of his leg after a maingate drum hit a roof support at a New South Wales underground coal mine.

Following pick replacement on a longwall shearer, it was repowered and placed into automation.

Maingate shields 6, 7 and 8 were advanced in manual while the shearer was stationary.
