Warkworth fined for alleged dust emissions

THE New South Wales Environment Protection Authority has fined Yancoal subsidiary Warkworth Mining $15,000 for allegedly failing to carry out blasting activities in a competent manner.

The EPA alleges Warkworth Mining did not have appropriate systems in place to minimise dust and fume emissions from blasting.

A mine blast at the Warkworth mine in New South Wales' Hunter Valley in August allegedly resulted in a large dust cloud leaving the premises.
