Greater focus needed on tyre handling: regulator

MINE operators and contractors must focus on identifying, implementing, and enforcing restricted work zones regarding the operation of tyre handlers, the New South Wales Resources Regulator has warned after its investigation of a fatality at Bengalla mine.

On November 3 2018, Quinton Moore, 37, suffered fatal injuries while washing a large earth moving tyre at Bengalla mine. At the time of the incident, Moore was employed by Marathon Tyres as a tyre fitter....
