Moolarben CHPP worker suffers broken arm

A COAL handling and preparation plant worker at Yancoal’s Moolarben mine in New South Wales was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital where he underwent surgery for arm and wrist fractures after he opened guarding around an operating belt press filter in order to correct a misaligned belt.

The CHPP worker's forearm was caught between the belt and the rotating drum.

At about 10am on May 17, a worker observed the belt on belt press filter 3 was out of alignment with a rotating drum.
