NSW govt committee should consider compensation over Doyles Creek: NuCoal

A NEW South Wales government committee investigating whether the corruption watchdog caused undue reputational damage to individuals in finding the granting of the exploration licence for the Doyles Creek coal project was corrupt should be extended to financial damage to NuCoal Resources shareholders, the company says.

NuCoal’s view is damage caused by ICAC can only be corrected by “providing damages commensurate with the damage done and in an appropriate form and quantum”.

On May 8 2020, the committee on the Independent Commission Against Corruption started an inquiry into the reputational impact on an individual being adversely named in the ICAC's investigations.
