Mineworker lucky to escape injury after sheave fall

THE head sheave plumber blocks failed at a New South Wales underground coal mine while a drift winder rope was being removed, resulting in the head sheave falling to ground level from its position on the gantry.

 The sheave wheel fell into a demarcated no-go zone.
