Rio BIF bid hits EPA hurdle

RIO Tinto’s bid to expand its Brockman 4 Syncline iron ore mine in Western Australia’s Pilbara will be assessed at public environmental review-level after Environmental Protection Authority chairman Tom Hatton deemed detailed assessment was needed to determine the extent of the proposal's direct and indirect impacts.
