WA mining injury rate goes down

THE latest quarterly performance snapshot by the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety shows that in the three-months between January and March there was one fatal injury in Western Australia’s minerals sector, and 205 serious, 69 minor and six non-disabling injuries.

Workers need to take care at work

The snapshot shows the most dangerous job on the surface in the sector was mechanical fitting, which had a 20% injury rate, with processing plant occupations coming a close second, at 18%.
