Giant hydrogen hub for WA miners hits speedbump

THE gigantic Asian Renewable Energy Hub, which would cover a whopping 6500sq.km in the East Pilbara and provide green hydrogen for mining operations in the region, has been deemed too environmentally destructive by the federal government.

Federal environment minister Sussan Ley rejected the proposal.

 

The Asian Renewable Energy Hub is a $22 billion project that aims to generate 26 gigawatts of electricity from wind and solar and use it to split water via electrolysis into hydrogen.
