Hunter coal industry prepared for COVID-19 lockdown

RECENT COVID-19 outbreaks in the Newcastle and Hunter Valley coal fields region of New South Wales have prompted the NSW government to declare a week-long lockdown in the region from 5pm August 5.

The Hunter Valley coal industry was assessing and strengthening its policies in response to recent outbreaks of COVID-19.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the affected local government areas were Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Port Stephens, Cessnock, Dungog, Singleton and Muswellbrook.
