A DOZER and dump truck collided while both were reversing at an overburden dump at a New South Wales open cut coal mine.

"Mobile plant operators should always maintain situational awareness and pay attention to the movement and proximity of other machinery," it said.

"Workers must use all available aids such as mirrors, cameras and awareness systems, particularly when reversing, and establish positive communications in accordance with documented procedures."
