MEDIA speculation has gone into overdrive in Singapore and Malaysia following claims Malaysia’s prime minister Anwar Ibrahim has rejected Lynas Rare Earths request to lift conditions imposed on the three-year renewal of its license to operate at Gebeng; and demanded radiation-free operations by July.

Locals have long protested Lynas' presence in Malaysia

Those conditions involve stopping cracking and leaching of lanthanide concentrate at the facility and only refining intermediate materials.
