Brookfield Multiplex has completed Roy Hill's $70 million non-process infrastructure facility.

The non-process facility comprises a heavy and light vehicle workshop, wash down and tyre change areas, a boilermaker workshop, office spaces and a lube farm.

It has enough capacity for the processing and maintenance of a fleet of up to 142 vehicles and office space for about 250 administrative staff.

Completion of the facility follows the delivery of the $200 million accommodation village in late 2013.

“The NPI facility and accommodation village are both core projects for Roy Hill and have been delivered on time and to budget, which is a credit to our engineering and infrastructure division considering the scope of works and remote location,” Brookfield Multiplex Western Australia regional managing director Chris Palandri said.

“The accommodation village is already home to more than 1000 staff, and all reports from residents indicate that the standard of housing and lifestyle facilities on site – including a gymnasium, an auditorium, mess halls and a state-of-the-art recreation centre – is among the best in the mining industry.”

Construction at Roy Hill is more than 85% complete.

The first iron ore shipment is still scheduled for the end of September.
