Koolan Island back to work

MOUNT Gibson is set to spend $96.7 million to build a new seawall at its Koolan Island iron ore mine in the Buccaneer Archipelago in Western Australia’s Kimberley region and on dewatering with the aim of producing first ore by early 2019.

The Koolan Island mine was put on care and maintenance in February 2016 after conditions deteriorated due to the late-2014 slip in the seawall that flooded operations.
