Altura's spodumene stockpil

The trucking move comes less than two weeks after Altura started production at Pilgangoora, which is about 123km from the port, in Western Australia's Pilbara.

Mining and processing at Pilgangoora is being undertaken at a rate of 1.54 million tonnes per annum, for production of about 230,000 tonnes of spodumene concentrate each year.

While the life of mine at Pilgangoora is 20 years, Altura is hoping to expand, and has just approved an initial stage two expansion study.

This scoping study will try to determine the optimal mine output and work out if production can be boosted to 450,000 tonnes, which will align with Altura's offtake partners' growth plans.
