The AFC chain package was selected after Becker Prûnte’s (KBP) technical features were proven through trial installations of smaller chain assemblies on the mine’s beam stage loader.

The staged trial started with three flight bars, then a short chain and flight section, and eventually a full BSL chain and flight installation.

KBP’s 48x152mm chain suits Oaky North’s high powered longwall, which produced 4.52 million tonnes in 2006 (mine total = 4.9Mt). The 48x152mm chain suits high powered installations of greater than 2000kW, with capacity exceeding 4000 tonnes per hour.

According to Inbye Mining Services the mine opted for KBP’s product in recognition of its “commercial advantages and extended warranties”.

KBP’s product range covers Joy and DBT flight bar profiles and chain in sizes up to 50mm.

Inbye Mining Services has conveyor installations at mines including Beltana, Oaky Creek, West Wallsend and Baal Bone and has had an agency agreement with KBP since mid-2005.

A second complete 48mm chain assembly will arrive at Inbye in April for a second installation at Oaky North.
