Workers trapped in Chinese coal mine

A FLOOD Friday afternoon at a coal mine in China's northeast has left 17 workers trapped.

The inundation occurred at a mine in Meikou city in Jilin Province and rescuers are still attempting to save the trapped miners, Associated Press reported.

In a separate accident in a southern coal mine, the death toll reached 10 after a final body was pulled from the operation, AP said>

A Guizhou Province spokesperson told Xinhua News Agency that 172 miners were underground when the gas blast occurred at the Zhenxing mine Thursday night.
