A spokesperson for the organizer, Wheeling Jesuit University, told ILN late last week the September 9-10 gathering will be rescheduled. A new date has not yet been set.
The symposium began in 2006, shortly after a rash of mining disasters including Sago, Aracoma and Kentucky Darby.
It was held at the WJU campus until 2008, when it moved to Salt Lake City, Utah.
While the 2010 event was to meet in Charleston, West Virginia, at the city’s civic center, the spokesperson did not indicate if the rescheduled event will still be held in the same location.
Keep watching ILN for more information about the International Mining Health and Safety Symposium as it becomes available.
